Version 4.5 Release Notes

This update contains the following new features and fixes:

If you are upgrading from V3.x, please read the V4.0 release notes before proceeding.

1. Administration

   1. New columns have been added to user and printer transactions to show B&W and colour page counts.

   2. The restriction on deleting printers and MFDs with history has been removed after many customer requests. A warning will be displayed when you select to delete a printer or MFD with user jobs associated with it but you will now be allowed to continue and delete it. User history for the printer or MFD will not be removed but the name of the printer or MFD will no longer be reported against the jobs.

   3. Various cosmetic changes.
       

2. Printing

   1. Major changes to Postscript for:

      1. Page counting to detect colour at the page level.

      2. Improved handling of Adobe Reader jobs for versions 7, 8 and 9.

   2. Changes to allow charging to multiple users on a common computer logged into a common user account.

   3. Detection of and improved charging for booklet printing.

   4. Fixed detection of B4, B5 and A6 paper sizes.

3. Windows Client

   1. Major changes to client startup for XP and Vista for wireless connections. If the client will remain loaded when the workstation disconnects from the network for a time then reconnects (for example, when a laptop is taken home overnight and returned to school), then the client should be run locally.

   2. Changes to survive hibernation and standby.

   3. Fixed refresh issues on some windows.

4. Client Service

   1. Changed startup sequence to fix a potential timing issue.

5. Services

   1. Improved license checking when services start

6. Internet

   1. No changes.

7. Web Client

   1. Minor changes.

8. Installation

   1. This release updates any version 3 or later product. If you are running V2.x you must upgrade to V3.x first before installing V4.x

   2. Stop all Gaia services and programs before upgrading. If you use the web client or web administration, restart IIS before upgrading to unlock all web modules. See the upgrade instructions.

   3. The V3 or previous V4 database will be automatically updated when you first run Administration

1. Fixed vouchers being reported as invalid in windows and web clients.
2. Fixed scheduled shutdowns that were not occurring reliably.
3. Added black and color page counts to current jobs list
4. Extended the extract from proxy log option to support W3C logs
5. Changed cthe urrent print jobs table to retain printed jobs for 10 minutes for information
6. Fixed returning status of print jobs after transfer to MFD
7. Added MFD log option to Browse/Logs menu

Version 4.5 Build 30 Released 29-May-2009

1. Fixed masking of PIN as a password in the windows Client
2. Fixed UserID and PIN to accept a maximum of 9 digits each
3. Fixed "Invalid record declaration" error after upgrade
4. Improved support for HPGL2 print jobs
