Version 3.1 Release Notes

This major update contains the following new features and fixes:

1. Web Interfaces

   1. The options available in the Web Client can now be controlled via Administration properties.

   2. A new method has been added to the COM interface to allow user charging to be redirected. An example file called ChangeUser.asp demonstrates how to use it.

2. Printing

   1. Various minor fixes.

3. Internet

   1. The net charging service has been split into 2 processes (GPNetCharge.exe and GPNetControl.exe) to separate the charging and access control functions.

   2. Access control using Windows groups is now performed by a different method to reduce the errors seen on some sites where Active Directory is very busy and unable to respond in a reasonable time (eg. when many users are logging in).

4. Administration

   1. Added a new client option to disable using a balloon for information messages.

   2. Various minor cosmetic changes.

5. Windows Client

   1. The popup balloon from the system tray for Windows 2000/XP/2003 can now be disabled.

   2. The tray icon changes to show when the client is disconnected.

6. Installation

   1. This release updates any other version 3 product.

Version 3.1.1 Update released 8-Dec-2006

1. Added new User/Dept verify buttons to web administration.

2. Fixed an issue where displaying web traffic for a specific user could cause Administration to terminate.

3. Fixed service issue where one process could terminate with an error but the service would still show a running state

4. Fixed the detection in the Windows client for network connected/disconnected status.

5. Fixed logging of uploaded bytes in Net charging.

Version 3.1.2 Update released 9-Jan-2007

1. Fixed an issue with the client where the icon could disappear from the tray making it impossible to manually activate even though it was still running and able to receive messages and charging requests.

2. Fixed a print service issue where it could use excessive CPU when more than 32 printers were being monitored

Version 3.1.3 Update released 16-Jan-2007

1. Fixed an issue with the web interface where it could report a "File not found" error and fail to display the option links.

Version 3.1.4 Update released 16-Feb-2007

1. Fixed an issue with the web interface where it did not accept hyphens in the recharge voucher code.
