Version 2.1
Release Notes
Released 12-Mar-2003
Required Maintenance
Date: 01-Feb-2003
This update contains the following new features and
fixes:
-
The installation procedure has changed to use the Windows Installer. If
you are upgrading from a previous version, please un-install that version
before installing V2.1
-
The workstation installation option has been removed. To run GAIA Print
Charger Administration from a workstation, create a shortcut to the
GPCharge.exe program on the server and specify the database location with
the path= parameter.
-
Added options to:
-
Automatically print receipts with user defined heading information on
either page or narrow printer.
-
Notify users of a low net balance using
the Print Client or Windows messaging.
-
Specify how charges affect user and
department balances and whether to maintain separate print/copy and net
balances.
-
Save the
database location on a web server for the Web Administration or Inquiry
programs.
-
Removed options to:
-
Specify the way the Overdraft Limit was
applied. The overdraft is now simply added to the current balance to
determine if a user can print/copy or access the net.
-
Create user and department transactions;
transactions are now always created.
-
Changed reports to:
- Fix sub totals on the Net Transactions Summary and Detailed reports.
- Allow for user names starting with underscores.
- Enhance the receipt report with:
- An option to allow range selection by time as well as date.
- An option to restrict the report to those receipts entered by a
particular operator.
- Added the Entered By username to the report.
-
Fixed problems where:
- Sometimes the "No records to report" message was displayed for
reports less than one page.
- The Net Monitor service would sometimes stop when analysing Squid
logs and added more checking of result codes.
- Specific site entries in the net charges table were not always being
recognized and the default charge was being applied.
- Copier connections over a WAN could be disconnected by network
devices without the server being notified. Further connection requests
then failed until the service was restarted.
- The PIN change procedure returned an error unless the user had write
access to the database. Users now only require read access.
- Added a Details tab to the About window to display the version of all
modules.
- Added a Paste button to the registration window to paste in a
registration from the clipboard.
- Changed the Net Charging History list to show MB instead of KB and
rearranged columns.
- Added a timestamp for the last time the charges were updated
- Changed the lookup of users during automatic addition to search all
trusted domains.
- Added a test option to the web balance inquiry and restored the tags
that were available in Net Charger V1.
- Added logging of command line
parameters to a new command line log file.
- Changed page counting of Epson jobs
to correctly handle remote mode commands.
- Improved detection of colour in
Postscript jobs for Windows 2000 supplied drivers. Non Windows 2000
Postscript drivers remain unsupported.
- Added a message DLL to translate
product specific event log messages.
- Limited the number of consecutive
error messages written to the print monitor log file.
Version 2.1 Updates

product. To install an update, copy the module to the folder where you
installed the product and replace the original file.
If you downloaded the full product since 17-Jun-2003, you already have all
these updates.
